Senior Geotechnical Engineer (P.Eng.)


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Geotechnical group. This role is ideal for a professional with strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a solid understanding of subsurface conditions in southern Ontario and regulatory requirements.

You will play a key role in delivering geotechnical investigations and construction support for a wide range of projects including residential and commercial developments, high-rise developments, and municipal infrastructure projects.

In addition to project delivery, you will assist in continuing to build and grow the geotechnical group, contributing to team expansion, technical capability development, and long-term strategic growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • • Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including drilling, sampling, and field testing programs
  • • Interpret subsurface conditions and prepare geotechnical reports with design recommendations
  • • Provide expertise in foundation design, slope stability, earthworks, retaining structures, and pavement design
  • • Manage projects, including scope, schedule, budgets, and client communication
  • • Provide construction-phase services including site inspections and problem-solving
  • • Mentor and develop junior geotechnical staff
  • • Assist in building and expanding the geotechnical group, including supporting recruitment, training, and technical development initiatives
  • • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
  • • Support proposal writing and business development initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements

  • • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario (mandatory)
  • • Minimum 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, preferably in Southern Ontario
  • • Proven experience in residential, commercial, high-rise, and municipal projects
  • • Strong knowledge of local soil and groundwater conditions across the GTA, Hamilton, and Niagara regions
  • • Demonstrated project management experience
  • • Experience mentoring geotechnical staff
  • • Experience working within a consulting engineering environment is an asset
  • • Familiarity with Ontario standards and guidelines (e.g., OBC, MTO, local municipal requirements)
  • • Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., slope stability, settlement, and foundation analysis tools)
  • • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites

Junior to Intermediate Environmental Scientist / Technician


Position Summary

The successful candidate will support a wide range of environmental consulting projects involving field investigations, environmental site assessments, remediation programs, hydrogeological investigations, hazardous materials management, and excess soil projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity for hands-on field and office experience with mentorship and career development opportunities.


Responsibilities

  • • Conduct and support:
    • o Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
    • o Soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling programs
    • o Hydrogeological investigations and groundwater monitoring
    • o Environmental remediation and monitoring programs
    • o Excess soil management and sampling programs
    • o Hazardous materials and designated substances surveys
    • o Monitoring well installation oversight and gauging
  • • Maintain accurate field notes, chain of custody documentation, and site records
  • • Assist with interpretation of environmental and hydrogeological data
  • • Prepare technical reports, figures, tables, and regulatory documentation
  • • Coordinate with project managers, laboratories, subcontractors, and clients
  • • Ensure compliance with company health and safety procedures and Ontario regulations
  • • Travel to project sites throughout Ontario as required

Qualifications

  • • Degree or diploma in:
    • o Environmental Science
    • o Geoscience
    • o Environmental Engineering
    • o Or a related environmental discipline
  • • Previous environmental consulting or field experience is considered an asset
  • • Familiarity with Ontario environmental regulations and guidance documents is an asset
  • • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
  • • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required

Senior Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist

Responsibilities:

  • • Design Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (in accordance with CSA Standards as well as Ontario Regulation 153/04), and soil/groundwater remediation programs
  • • File Records of Site Condition
  • • Complete technical reviews of projects to ensure compliance with client objectives, regulatory requirements and technical standards (QA/QC assessment of data and reports)
  • • Prepare work plans and cost estimates and act as project technical lead
  • • Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies and contractors
  • • Provide technical direction and mentoring to junior staff
  • • Perform business development activities, manage projects and clients

 

Qualifications:

  • • P.Eng. or P.Geo. (or pending)
  • • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of environmental consulting, preferably in Ontario
  • • Superior communication skills, written and spoken
  • • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues
  • • Experience with Brownfields/contaminated sites, remediation, environmental site assessment and transactional due diligence
  • • Experience with development projects and excess soil regulations
  • • Understanding of hydrogeology, contaminant transport and geology
