Risk Assessment is a process that incorporates site-specific conditions in the development of soil, groundwater and sediment standards. It involves the technical, scientific examination of the nature and magnitude of risk to define potential contaminant effects at a site. The Risk Assessment approach addresses human and ecological receptors that may be exposed to contaminants.
A Risk Assessment can be more economical than conventional remediation, and is often implemented when conventional methods are not time-efficient or cost-effective, or where there are physical constraints. Our Risk Assessments are completed in accordance with Ontario Regulation 153/04.
